1) Since Judas was possesed by Satan, Jesus tricked Satan into killing him.
2) If Judas didnt kill him, he would have died another way. (fate/destony)
3) Judas had no choice ( ruins the free will theory)
I prefer theory 1. I have no idea whats the position of theologicans on this issue. -
From secular scholarship, it is quite clear the gospel authors have bias. The vilification (sp?) of Judas was developed through the course of time, which probably explains why it is missing in Mark and it is the worst in John.
1. I don't buy the Satan possession theory. I am wondering, Satan also can read bible, he must have tried all sorts of way to prevent prophecies from happening.
2. Very hard. I thought it was prophesized the son of man will be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver? furthermore if it is betrayal means the relationship of the betrayer must be quite close to Jesus.
3. He has a third choice - kill himself to avoid choosing whether to betray or not.
