the ot is needed lyk the nt is the needed. all the scriputure is for the profit of the christian people. we know the God more if we read the ot and the nt. the christians people is walking the nt becuase commands for christian people. the ot is the walking of the christians people.. walking only by the principles and examples of the ot.Originally posted by breytonhartge:if you do not go back to the tenach and understand the torah, one question, how do you grow?
growing by knowing Jesus and His grace
If the tenach and the toarah are so over as many here claim, then why do we have the bible as the OT and the NT?
the teacher paul seys all bible is profitable.
the written ones in leviticus are profitable for a christians people by principals and models even christians do not belong to the written ones in leveitcus.
teahcer paul is said the law is abolished at the cross
Why no just get rid of the OT all together if it is of no further use.
We have the Holy Spirit in us and we have the word of Yahweh so that we can check and see whether the sprit in you is leading you in the right direction... and for assumptions sake, lets just say you only have the NT, then how can you be sure of the whole word of Yahweh?
the nt is whole word for teh christians people it is whole word for them lyk the ot is whole word for the israel man.
Many here claim we are heirs of the covenant of avraham but how do we even know what that covenant is and what the blessings are unless we refer back to the tenach and the torah?
the christians people are heirs to the abraham covenant. we reaad the Gen. thanks to the Gen. Bible. but the walk of life for the christians people is the Spirit Jesus inside the christians people. the nt comands are the whole word for the christains people lyk the ot are the whole words for the christians people. why not God write the NT commands to the Israel man? because the OT words are the whole word of God to the Israel man.
You go back to the torah and the tenach to understand your YAHWEH. In the NT( brit chadashah ) when the apostle shaul refers to scripture, which scripture did you think he was referring to the NT? No. It is the torah and tenach that he meant. When shaul and all the other apostles preached, they used the tenach and the torah to teach and to encourage. Never the brit chadashah.
teacher paul is said after the Jesus is here we are no more torah.
the christians people is dying to the torah lyk the christioans dying to the torah.
the paul is said that the law is the strength of the sin
Who is Yeshua? He is the word made flesh. So if you reject the torah and the tenach, you also reject Yeshua. The word of Yahweh does not start with the brit chadashah, it starts with the torah. You cannot claim to accept Yeshua and say that you do not accept the torah and the tenach. They are inseprable. The NT, is a continuation of the OT and without the understanding of the OT, there is no understanding of the NT. Even in the natural if you take something out of context, you fail, so without the context and understanding of the torah and the tenach, you cannot understand the brit chadashah.

I think unkers vince and chin eng has explained to u very clear aleady.Originally posted by breytonhartge:how does fulfillment mean abolish? which scripture in the bible says that the law was abolished on the cross? How do you come to this conclusion?
Then you explain why Yeshua said keep the commandments? till now no one here can explain this away?
and so you are saying that the law is abolished? which verse?Originally posted by laoda99:I think unkers vince and chin eng has explained to u very clear aleady.
No...not abt tat......they have already explained abt why Jesus said if u love him keep his commandments.Originally posted by breytonhartge:and so you are saying that the law is abolished? which verse?
Nope. Tired....and not interested in this topic.Originally posted by Icemoon:did you read Brey's whole exchange?
Unker... you left out the prophecies concerning Jesus, the temple practices that points to the salvation plans of God, and the character of God ...etc that you can also finds in the OT.Originally posted by Chin Eng:I don't recall any Christian here ever saying that the Old Testament is irrelevant and should be thrown out. The OT serves as a good record of a historical account of how God had worked in those times, it also offer a glimpse of the culture of the Hebrew people.....
Going back to the definition of the "law" and the "commandments" mentioned by Jesus (as I am Chinese, I shall refer to Him as Ju3 Ye1 Su1). What exactly is He talking about? Is He talking about the tens of thousands of Pharissic laws concorted by the high priests, or is he talking about the 10 Commandments (the basis of all Hebrew laws)?
I choose to interpret as that these 10 commandments are the ones that we should all adhere to. They represent the basis of everything good, and does not in anyway comes into conflict with whether one goes to Judaism way or the Christian way.
It is very clear in the NT, in the Pauline letters, that the Gentiles are not subjected to the laws of the Jews. In fact, Paul goes as far as to scold the Jewish leaders who insist on putting on the heavy bonds Jewish laws onto the Gentile believers, and these Jewish laws are not easy, even for the Jews.

ok... I was doing the short version. There are lots of reasons why the OT NOT irrelevant.Originally posted by vince69:Unker... you left out the prophecies concerning Jesus, the temple practices that points to the salvation plans of God, and the character of God ...etc that you can also finds in the OT.![]()
Off hand (because I have no time to search), I think it's the Jews specifically.Originally posted by Icemoon:lol .. JU yesu.
i have the ultimate question to ask .. may I know when Jesus said Brey's favourite "follow my commandments" verse .. who was the audience?
