The Prayer Of A Child

As the man picked up his luggage and headed for the door, the boy, not more than 10 yrs old asked, "Daddy, may I pray for you..?"
The man looked down at his son and said, reluctantly as the cab is already waiting downstairs, "Yeah, why not?"
With that the boy hugged his father and said in a very soft voice, "God, please keep my daddy safe from harm. Amen."
.... a very simple prayer, but one the speaks volumes. It speaks about the boy's faith in God, in entrusting his father to His Almighty hands. It speaks about the love the boy has for his father, seeing that he won't be seeing the old man again, for a while. It speaks about the desire to want his father to be safe when he goes overseas for one of his many trips.
It also speaks the truth..... the boy is my younger son. The prayer was uttered on 26 Feb, 2006 at 10.45 am.

Recently, I began to understand what Jesus meant when He said, the kingdom of God belongs to those such as the children:
Matthew 19:14
Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
Mark 10:14
When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
So I thought, become little children? How can a 70 year old man, or even an adult in his/her prime become little children? Little did I know and understand that the prayers of these little ones are filled with Faith and Hope.
A child will always run behind and clutch the legs of his parents tightly when he's frightened of, say a big dog, or a sudden loud noise. Because of his faith in them. He does not doubt the protection his parents can offer.
Sometimes when I pray, doubt sets in. When we grow up, the world tells us stuffs like " don't pin your hopes too high, it'll hurt harder when you fall" Or, "don't expect too much." or "Is anyone even listening?". This brings the element of doubt into my prayers.

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
That is what Jesus wanted us to be. Little boys and girls! With heart of faith and hope to believe even in the face of adversities. Always having the expectations of good things to come.

kinda reminds me of Martha and her sister and the things they did to please Jesus.

sooooo sweeeeeettttt!!! , if i had a son and he said that to me , ill probably melt! have a good trip and enjoy urself CE ! praise the Lord for your son's faith ! For a young child of that age to understand it is so incredible !

Now i really know wat God means when he tells us to have "child-like" faith!
