The successor to the iPhone 6 will be revealed as early as August, according to one industry analyst.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has issued a research note to clients claiming the iPhone 7 (or possibly iPhone 6s) will be announced at a launch event in August ahead of a September on-sale date. Interestingly, Apple has never launched an iPhone during August – it’s usually been September in recent years.
Kuo also claims that Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn will manufacture between 60 and 70 percent of the new iPhones, and will also be the sole manufacturer of the upcoming 12.9in iPad.
The next iPhone is expected to feature similar Force Touch technology to the trackpad on the new MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops, and there are claims it will be constructed from the same scratch-resistant Series 7000 aluminium alloy as the Apple Watch.
