Xiaomi Singapore just announced that the Redmi smartphone will be available for purchase on February 21 at a retail price of S$169 (inclusive of GST and without line contract).
The Redmi smartphone comes with a 4.7-inch 720p display, a MediaTek MT6589T quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a microSD memory card slot and a 2,000mAh battery.
At its retail price, the Redmi is a very valuable buy compared to the S$318 Motorola Moto G which was launched in Singapore last month.

price so cheap.... no wonder so popular in china...
not only price cheap, the specs also not bad...
same goes for alot of xiaomi products like Monitors etc...
How they manage to keep their expense so low...???
Really really really curious...
China price is alway cheap, just that apple /samsung are making big bucks...
The price they sell is always the mark up price...
Apple makes their phone over at foxconn which is based in China too...
Problem is, expense for xiaomi is kept low, so they could afford to sell at a lower price and still make profit, whereas Apple charges a much higher price for a handset...
I'm comparing the profit made per phone, not the total profit the company makes...
Consumers may be astonished at the retail price of the Redmi, but they are in for a bigger surprise when Xiaomi launches its flagship smartphone, Mi-3 on March 7 in Singapore.
The Chinese phone maker made the announcement today at a media event. Consumers can purchase the Mi-3 from its website at a retail price of S$419 (inclusive of GST and without line contract). The three telcos will also be selling the Mi-3.
Xiaomi unveiled the Mi-3 in China last September. It comes with either a NVIDIA Tegra 4 quad-core 1.8GHz processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AB) quad-core 2.3GHz processor, and is available in 16GB and 64GB versions.
For Singapore, Xiaomi will be bringing in the Snapdragon variant with an internal storage capacity of 16GB. Unfortunately, the Mi-3 does not support 4G LTE connectivity. To find out how the Mi-3 fares against the latest Android flagship smartphones, do check out our specs comparison article.
Xiaomi announced today that their most powerful flagship Mi 3 Android smartphone is now selling at S$339, lower by S$80 from the previous price of $419. The Mi 3 is also available on sale now and there isn’t a limited quantity specified so it might be true that Xiaomi Singapore have already stocked up quite sufficiently to meet demands here.
The price cut however is generating some unhappiness from fans who bought the phone few weeks earlier on Xiaomi’s 4th anniversary sale. Most are asking for rebates from their Facebook page with the introduction of the price cut today, however Xiaomi Singapore has yet to respond to the feedbacks. Smartphone manufacturers are under the competitive pressure of coming up with better and more affordable smartphones, especially after all the attention OnePlus has garnered lately.
This phone looks amazing... really... The specs are great, the quality looks not so bad for a chinese brand and the price is more than attractive.
I definitely need it! Where can we buy it? I heard there is a system of invitation or sth... How can we get this invitation?
Thanks
I just checked... The Xiaomi Mi-3 is available on the internet but do we need an invitation to buy it? For example on this website http://www.pricepanda.com.sg/xiaomi-mi3-pid1529651/ ? It is not the official Xiaomi website so maybe we don't need invitation?
Thank you..
So great design. I think it's one of the best smartphones of this year, maybe Asha is better a lil bit, but design of this one is truly catchy and stylish. Especially icons are awesome, I made design for several apps and can surely say it's really solid I think they cooperated with some of best studios of icons design like aha-soft.com.
