world, food tips and suggestion like foursquare is gaining its populations, maps and navigating
apps which is a life saver in unknown area?
When people went overseas, they don't get to use
their mobile internet like they do in their home country, and boy its hard to resist the desire to
share with friends with all those fascinating adventures you have, not to mentioned Google map
which show you the way but it required internet.......
I wonder what will be your choice? just use whatever
you have? find alternative to be able to still on the grid and sharing your fascinating
adventures anywhere you go?
use whatever hotspot you can? hotel? shopping mall?
restaurant?

B. Buy a local sim card and data package
C. Rent a Pocket WiFi
D. Do not need
E. Other
Don't care at all to enjoy trip the fullest
or you have any plan in mind
Because I need to work on the move while travelling, I use singtel's dataroam saver plans. Regional areas are 15 dollars a day, unlimited usage.
Singtel has fine tune their system to network lock, so you won't stray to another provider, and they got this easydata plan subscription which automatically puts you into the saver package if you leave the dataroam option on your phone switched on.
Its good coz you won't kenna data block charges, or the wrong provider.
If you're unlucky, the hotel will charge you for wifi, but pretty reasonable rates, unlike AUSTRALIA.
I heard that , A new business line "Travel abroad wifi" will coming in Sg. Their can provide almost asia's telcom data roaming, Like Japan, Korea , Indonesia , Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong , USA , Europe ..... The rental prices below $15.00 and Unlimited usage.... how do you thinking ?
How do you "carry wifi"?
You still need a service provider.
It'll just turn out to be a mobile router with a paid sim card.
They will provide a portable router (MiFi) with sim card ( local sim card ). the rental will $10.00 ~ $15.00/day and unlimited usage. creative right ?
No.

Because almost every regional airport I have pass thru, even the really remote domestic ones, offer such a service at the arrival hall through their local telco providers.
Of course if I could, I would use them, but I don't stay in one place long enough to make it economically worthwhile.
And if you can offer a flat 15 bucks a day unlimited usage for places like Australia, Japan, and the United states, I say its impossible.
To my understanding from Hong Kong, they offer pocket wifi device with unlimited data for most of the countries, the good thing is we can use this device to share with up to 7 persons in a reasonable distance. Price is around $10 to 13
They give you unlimited is one thing, they can limit your connectivity to just 2G(gprs).
In Japan, they differentiate it to 2 different price points, high speed, or high latency, of course the latter is cheaper.
Sure unlimited data is a draw, but contract wise can bound you down to connectivity, got 2G, 3G, 3.75G, and of course LTE not so widespread yet.
Oh yeah, Singtel going to offer dataroam package in hong kong using LTE already.
Oh yeah, hong kong dataroam package unlimited is $15 a day on singtel, on LTE ah!
Use android phone turn on wifi hotspot become mobile router already.
