Please forgive me if this is not the right forum to post my problem, as I really cannot find a more appropriate one.
I called SingTel to subscribe data roaming, which costs $15 per day, before bringing my tablet overseas for five days. I was told to hook up to the right network, but not told the consequences of hooking up to a wrong network.
After I had arrived at my destination, I used my tablet to access the network there and confirmed that I had hooked up to the right network.
However, when I was back, Singtel told me that there were two days that I had hooked up to the wrong network and I had incurred a more than $4000 bill. It was a rude shock.
SingTel told me that they did sent 3 SMSes to my tablet to inform me about the wrong network, but I did not received.
Your kind advice is greatly appreciated
wat kind of advice u need?
how to appeal to waive the charges?
Before you hooked up to the data roam service, you would be warned of using the wrong network to access mobile data. So those 3 smses were friendly reminders.
The first thing to do if you need to use data roam overseas, is to disable the data roam, locate the correct network, and set it to manual selection, so your device doesn't just seek the strongest signal, and will only stay on the selected network. Then you turn data roam on.
wrong network of cos no rcv the sms lah
they shd have sent to your hp (or other device) rite?

no, wrong network still can receive the sms.
I think TS is using iPad, the problem with iPad is that it cannot receive SMS, tts why TS says it didnt receive the sms.
if u use dataroam, be sure that it is always hooked up to the selected network and roaming partners. Take a good look and check the network name everytime you use it.
Anyway, 4k charge, ask singtel give you discount or propose a paying plan to them? Other forumnite might have a good answer to this. What is done has already been done.
Threaten singtel, say you want to switch over to better telco providers, such as M1.
tell them that u have manually configure to that particular network and it is not your fault at all.
anyway, it is best to use local prepaid card if want to use data overseas. i think it is much cheaper...

no, say u wanna switch to Maxis, since so many people always complain that their phone always roam to Malaysia when they are still in Singapore.
call the CSO to argue
or go to hello! shop
and pray they ok to waive
or give u a HUGE discount
Sorry, may I know what CSO is?

wah lan eh, $4k, can bang so many girls. Do threesome also can have sex for 10 nights at least, with some money for supper and hotel fees left over.
I just noticed there is a Pay as U Roam 20% surcharge. But I was told I wwill be charged sgd 15 per day. Could singtel have made a mistake?
pay as you roam is for the calls and sms
data is data
have u talked to a CSO to clarify?
Brother, you lost.
Ignorance is not an excuse. Just got to pay up.
I went to China, turn on my data roam on 3 occasions for about 5 mins each. Got a $200 bill.
Did not even bother to argue.
Just pay.
Pay And Pay.
Had spoken to a cso saying the 20% pay as u roam applies only to the roaming on the wrong network. But I was not forewarned on this when subscribing to the pakage.
everything need to warn ah
then u must go there and sit there listen 3 days 3 nites all the T&Cs and all the "possibilities" and "consequences"
in ur first post up there u said u were told to hook up to the right network
so wat do u think will happen when u hook up to the wrong network leh?

look under notes, item 2
When you subscribed to the package you already knew you had to be locked to one network for the data roam service otherwise the prevailing charges would apply.
No one needed to warn you, because its stated clearly in the terms and conditions that you should have read when you applied for the package.
And having used it myself, if you logged on to the wrong network, a warning sms would be sent to your device almost immediately of the consequences, unless it happens to be an ipad which cannot recieve smses (WTF).
I think this time you can only ask for discount but still end up having to pay a certain amount? Hopefully they can waive!!
For me previously when i went overseas, i tried Pheonix. But only used it for calls without data. Only bad thing is that i need to have 2 numbers, like one sg number and one oversea's number. Totally worth the trouble tho since i saved almost 10 times the normal cost. Had a great experience with them, not too sure about others but i would recommend u to try it out next time!:)
