Hi People,
Till now I still don't know whats the hype over iPhone vs Android. Though I'm not too much of an iphone fan cos many people are holding on to it.
I would be getting a new phone soon, and would like to know more about Android. I got some really basic, or maybe stupid ._. qns to ask.
What is Android/ Android phone? Why are people saying its better than iPhone? If I buy an Android phone, are the applications free according to some websites? Please tell me in layman language, cos I'm really bad at such IT stuff.
I'm now eyeing on Samsung Galaxy or HTC Desire. Please guide me thank you!!!
With regards,

P.S. I read some other post regarding Android liao and know that their screen or simi resolution better than LCD. All these I also don't know! Just layman language!! TQ TQ TQ!
To answer your questions
Android is an Operating System. Just like Windows XP, Mac OS or Windows Vista is for PC, Android is an OS for phone. The latest Android version is Froyo 2.2.1.
I would not say android is better than an iphone because each has it own pros and cons.
If you buy an Android phone, there is an app called "Market" in it. When u enter, there are tons of free apps inside for you to download. The paid version is coming soon to Sg. But there are always ways to get free paid apps without the need to root your phone.
A few of the awesome apps that are free are
Google Map, Google Latitude (you get to see where your freinds are on the map), Voice dialer, Gesture Search, Barcode scanner, Starhub TV (you get to watch free History channel and National Geographic if you are starhub user), Ringdroid and more.
Hope this help clarify.
Woah Thanks Freedom! =D
