  But i cant get over how Van Helsing is originally an Ah Pek in Bram Stoker's Dracula.. Then they change him into this guy..

  That's cause the director Stephen Sommers decided to cast Hugh Jackman as Gabriel Van Helsing, the suppoedly younger brother of the "Ah Pek" Abraham Van Helsing..
  
  Well, I guess if they were to cast the original Van Helsing, it wouldn't appeal so much to the younger audience...
