  ATI X800 Pro
  
  the gfx card alone cost me 800, but its worth it, wont need to upgrade my comp for many years. can handle all the new pc games for a long time to come.

  My old one...bought at 2001
  but specs and aging parts enough to last me for 1 or 2 more years,chunks of data failing....just now PC restarted and truncated all of the Mozilla bookmark(thank fully) datas and i had to back up from Netscape's bookmark..tot virus...anyway here's mine

  Hi.. guys
  
  I notice most of you are using ATI graphic chip set... is it better then nvidia. If so.. Why is it better and in what way better ?
  
  I've been using many generations of nvidia. I might be upgrading from my present Inno-3d 6600GT 128 DDR3... soon... find it lacking in COD2 (DEMO)and F.E.A.R. (just bought).

  most ppl i came across think than Nvidia are betta anyway u might try to go for a 256MB card

  I myself use ATI card (A 1st generation x800pro) but there are a few things that make Nvidia cards slightly better than ATI.
  
  First, there is the Pixel Shader 3.0 support on most of Nvidia cards ranging way back to the 6600GT. ATI's X8 series of cards only have up to shader 2.0b.
  
  Second, Nvidia's Forceware drivers seems to be a tad more stable than ATI's Catalyst which is proven in most games already.
  
  Third, there is much less to choose from Nvidia. There are only the core chipsets of 6600, 6800 and the 7800 with some variation of the cards GT, GTX, GS etc... which makes it easier for consumers to choose. While ATI has the X800, X850, X600, X700, X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900 and probably more to be coming soon. And i'm not even going overboard by including the PRO, XT, XL, GT0, GTO2, GT, XTPE, and the XTX.
  
  I'm not saying ATI is crap but more rather they are releasing sequels and sequels of crads just to compete with Nvidia. Look at what happen to the X1800XL & the XT. Probably just 2 months after their release, they released the X1900 which left the owners of the X1800 series of cards stranded. This doesn't benefit end-users at all.

  Not powerful enough to play quite alot of games but i only play one or two games.

  i also bought mine 5 years ago. but as compared to 5 years ago, i upgraded everything inside my CPU already, a new DVD-ROM drive, 384MB SD RAM, 128MB GeForce FX, boardband even a new CPU fan, everything except my processor.
  
  anyway isn't your system even slower running on windows XP, i tried upgrading to XP once, it got so slow that i switch back to Windows ME.

  Added more RAM, so not that lag. But have to avoid Java. If not, it will start crawling.
