Playing as a female character in games

the gaming market is donimated by games requiring u playing the main role of a male character, especailly in first/third person shooters. seldom do games let u play as a female main character. is it because of the fact that the market is made up of mostly male gamers and male gamers feel more at ease playing a male character?
what are your views? -
some males like to take female chars in rpgs and pretend so that they'll have more benefits. =.=

i ALWAYS choose a female character to play as if the game allows it.

standard is got 4 chracters
1 guy = moderate
1 guy = bulky, powerful but slow
1 female = speed fast but weak in attack
1 guy = good in everything but armor very weak cannot take alot of hits. -
Heh I use female characters too! coS their armour are usually prettier =D

i don't know about u guys, but i personally like the no one lives forever series, especially the 1st 1. very refreshing to play as a female. most of all, the humour and espionage gameplay won me over.

lots of games the main role is female. either that or you get to choose male or female.
I dont think male gamers are more at ease playing a male character. the reason why games have male main character is for storyline reasons. sometimes a female hero just doesnt fit. -

sometimes I play a female character if I think it will be more interesting in the storyline. for example a female assasin will probably be very unique, why is she an assasin? whereas a male assasin will be very common. similarly it just doesnt make sense if I play a female character who has like what, 18 strength whereas the average person has 10 strength. -
