This is a new bus hobby I have got into recently and thought I should share it with folks here on regular basis.
I'll start with observations in Yishun this morning.
Time Observed: 654am - 811am at Lentor
969
D > B > D > D > S > S > S > S > S> B > D > D > S > S
Frequency: 4.6 minutes
* Annoyingly high number of SDs, almost all packed to door. Wonder what is SMRT doing for such a high loading service?? Have they lost their mind with storming the service with SDs at a frequency of 3 mins or so with overall frequency under 5 mins??
965
D > D > S > S > S > S > D > D > S > S
Frequency: 6.7 minutes
* Very high frequency and bunching of DD buses. Most buses had <40 pax on board incl DDs at Lentor.
858
B > S > S > S > S > B > S > S > S > S > S > S
* Frequency: 6.7 minutes
* Clearly 858 needs more bendies. Come on, give some more bendies to 858 SMRT.
857
D > S > D > S > D > S > D > S > D > D > S > D > D > D
* Almost from 7 to 750 am, the DDs and SDs were alternating but as it was closer to 8ish, it was more DDs. Guess this is for Khatib -> YCK Industrial?
* Frequency: 6 mins
* Almost every bus was packed and had good loading.

Will do. A bit crazy how they have 965 buses at 05-07 minutes frequency, when it's not needed. Opposite direction should get some instead.
Continuing on observations in Lentor this morning.
855
Freq: 12 mins, all SDs of course.
854
B > D > B > D > B > B > D > S > B > D > B > B> D
Freq: 6.7 mins
* Quite impressed that it was almost a full high capacity fleet except for 1 SD
* Loading was as good as 857. Has the YCK Industrial estate expanded that 854 and 857 at 3 mins frequency average and high capacity buses have such high loading. This is synonymous to the loading on 241 or 807 in AM towards MRT.
* Those complaining about lot of rigids on 854, should be happy that 854 is doing much better now while 969 is getting spammed with massive number of rigids.
851
S > S > S > D > S > S > D > D > S
Freq: 8.6 minutes
* No bendies observed. Loading was decent on all buses
852
freq: 10 mins (better than I expected)
853
frew: 8.6 mins (way better than I expected)
SBST Observations at Lentor (39/85)
39
D > S > S > S > S > S > D > D > S > S
* Freq: 10 mins
* Loading was not so high on almost all buses. DDs must have had around 50 pax only.
* I remember few years back 39 was one of the services that received a fleet add every quarter from SBST. It's fleet went from 14 to 22 buses because SDs were not able to tank the load. Now 39 SDs have enough space, let alone the DDs that don't really get used to its capacity. What's the issue here? I think has to do with introduction of 103, 117 to Yishun + fleet add on other services too.
85
Freq: 10 mins, 10 DDs observed.
2/10 DDs had around 80 pax on board, all others had < 70 pax for sure.
* DDs in opposite direction seemed to be doing better.

Originally posted by Sbs6750E:85’s Sengkang West-Yishun loading has improved quite a lot, every bus got 70++ pax.
You are right. That's what I observed too. Yishun to Sengkang west AM loading was okay but opposite direction from SKG to YIS was quite high on every bus.

where is bendy buses and DDs last time at least have some bendy bus help out.
sbst also have this kind of problem with 59 during peak hours come with SD more than DDs and waiting time about 5-6 min miss one 10-12 min
161 (today)
DD > SD > SD > DD > DD > DD > DD
Freq: 6 - 10 mins
Notice that there is always a SD crossover to 161

Observations at Admiralty MRT towards Woodlands for 964, 965 and 969 between 6.02 and 6.44pm
964
Full DD fleet (no rigid or bendy observed)
Frequency: 5.6 minutes
965
S > S > D > S > D > S > S
Freq: 7.5 minutes
* the last SD observed was packed to door
* The 2 DDs had around 50 pax on board only
969
D > D > B > S > S > D > S > S
Freq: 6.4 minutes
* Out of 8 buses, 4 were SDs, 50% HC fleet only
* Each and every bus was packed. All DDs had around 70-90 pax and SDs had around 55-65 pax.
* I still don't get it why SMRT wants to deploy such high number of SDs on 969 when there are so many long distance pax + loading is super high
* Somehow 965 loading is not as high even though the two have similar routes from Lentor (except YIS 5/7 part). This part does make a big difference to the loading pattern I guess
* Is SMRT waiting for another 190 situation before it makes 969 full fleet DD ???
143 for the past week is not full DD,due to chronic shortage of buses, ive seen A22 or Citaro cameos. So much for cost savings and maximizing resources.I understand the fee to lease a single decker is between $3000-3500 and double decker is between $4000-$4500 per month but again do we know what's the purpose of spare buses? Then incumbents knew how important is the spare buses is.
At HGDEP this morning towards Eunos. Sequence of buses from 658am to 758am
25 (D) > 854 (B) > 151 (S) > 87 (D) > 854 (B) > 51 (D) > 87 (D) > 25 (S) > 45 (S) > 55 (S) > 151 (D) > 151 (S) > 25 (D) > 51 (S) > 854 (S) > 25 (D) > 87 (D) > 45 (S) > 854 (D) > 25 (D) > 55 (D) > 87 (D) > 151 (S) > 45 (D) > 55 (S) > 854 (B) > 151 (S) > 51 (S) > 25 (D) > 87 (D) > 854 (S) > 151 (S) > 854 (B) > 51 (D) > 25 (D) > 55 (D) > 87 (D) > 151 (D) > 87 (D) > 25 (D) > 55 (D) > 854 (D) > 45 (D) > 854 (D) > 51 (D) > 151 (S) > 45 (S) > 87 (D) > 854 (D) > 25 (D) > 25 (D) > 55 (D) > 87 (D) > 51 (D) > 87 (D) > 854 (D)
* 25, 87 and 854 operating at a frequency of 5-6 minutes with almost every bus full
* Amazing frequency on 151 at 7-8 minutes per bus
* Lower frequency on 45, 51, 55 of around 10-12 minutes per bus
* 55 always followed a 25. Many times 25, 55, 87 and 854 come together, yet 25, 87 and 854 have +70 pax loading
854 sequence this morning at Hougang.
B > B > S > D > B > S > B > D > D > D > D > B > B > D > S > B > B > B > B > D > S > B
Total number of buses observed = 22
No of BDs = 11 (50% fleet)
No of DDs = 07 (35% fleet)
No of SDs = 04 (15% fleet)
* Looking at the loading, there is no place for SDs on 854 but still 854 is better managed than 969.
