We refer to your feedback of 13 June 2017.
Thank you for the detailed suggestion.
Please allow us to share that when planning for an efficient and effective bus network, we are guided by the principles to improve journey quality, enhance integration of public transport routes, strengthen the hub-and-spoke model, and ensure the overall financial viability of the public bus industry.
With any service amendment, there will be passengers who will potentially benefit, while others may be adversely affected. We need to assess the impact on the commuters carefully, before we make any amendment.
We have looked into your suggestion to amend bus services 61, 66, 67, 170, 171, 174, 178, 258, 700, 852 and 985, as well as introduce a new bus service 520.
Our studies showed that a significant group of existing passengers will be adversely affected if we amend Services 61, 66, 67, 170, 171, 174, 178, 258, 700, 852 and 985.
The amendment of Service 61 would result in a loss of direct link between Telok Blangah and Kallang Bahru, and between Kallang Bahru and Jalan Eunos.
The amendment of Service 66 would result in a loss of direct link between Ubi Avenue 2 and Bedok North Avenue 3, and between Bedok North Avenue 3 and MacPherson Road.
The amendment of Service 67 would result in a loss of direct link between Choa Chu Kang Way and Upper Bukit Timah Road, and between New Upper Changi Road and Bukit Timah Road.
The amendment of Service 170 would result in a loss of direct link between Rochor Canal Road and Queen Street, where Stamford Primary School is located.
The amendment of Service 171 would result in a loss of direct link between Yishun Avenue 5 and Dunearn Road, where many reputable schools like National Junior College and Hwa Chong Institution are located.
The amendment of Service 174 would result in a loss of direct link between Boon Lay Avenue and Jalan Jurong Kechil, where Ngee Ann Polytechnic is located.
The amendment of Service 178 would result in a loss of direct link between Corporation Road and Bukit Batok West Avenue 3, where Millennia Institute is located. It would also remove the direct link between Corporation Road and Woodlands Road, where many employment opportunities are located.
The amendment of Service 258 would increase the route length by about 15 kilometres. Already, the new route that loops around Boon Lay MRT station is about 17 kilometres. Extending the route further to Ayer Rajah Expressway (Jurong Town Hall Road) would increase the route to about 30 kilometres, which would drastically affect the reliability of Service 258.
The amendment of Service 700 would enhance the connection between Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang and the Central Business District. However, the present demand is not sufficient for another bus connection between Choa Chu Kang and the Central Business District, and enhanced connection between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang. The existing bus services 75, 190, 970, 971E, 972 and 983 already provide the connection between Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang and the Central Business District relatively well. Hence, there is no need for the amendment of Service 700 to Choa Chu Kang.
The removal of Service 852 would result in a loss of direct link between Yishun Avenue 2 and Dunearn Road, where many reputable schools like National Junior College and Hwa Chong Institution are located.
The amendment of Service 985 would result in a loss of direct link between Jalan Jurong Kechil and Boon Keng Road, where many employment opportunities are located. Residents of Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Batok who work at Boon Keng Road would be adversely affected.
With regards to your suggestion of new bus service 520, there are already many express bus services that run between Queen Street Bus Terminal and Larkin Bus Terminal. The suggestion of yours is not feasible as the present demand at Queen Street Bus Terminal does not warrant another express bus service to provide that connection.
In view of the above, we are sorry to inform you that we are unable to accede to your request.
Nonetheless, every feedback is important to us. We have noted your request and will take it into consideration when we review the bus network for the area.
Thank you for writing in.
Yours Sincerely

And my suggestion on how to improve the feedback:
Originally posted by gekpohboy:Actually, BusAnalayzer’s route suggestion is workable.
But, there would need to be new routes introduced, to make up for the loss of direct connections.
Suggestion
New A: Joo Koon to Choa Chu Kang, via Benoi Road, Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, Corporation Road, Boon Lay Way, Jurong Town Hall Road, Bukit Batok Road, Bukit Batok West Avenue 3, Bukit Batok East Avenue 3, Bukit Batok East Avenue 6, Jalan Jurong Kechil, Upper Bukit Timah Road, Choa Chu Kang Road, Choa Chu Kang Way, Choa Chu Kang Loop. (24km)
New B: Toa Payoh to National Junior College (loop), via Lorong 2 Toa Payoh, Pan Island Expressway, Whitley Road, Bukit Timah Road, turn to reverse direction after Hwa Chong Institution, Dunearn Road, Whitley Road, Mount Pleasant Road, Pan Island Expressway, Lorong 2 Toa Payoh. (12.6km)
New C: Bukit Merah to Lorong 1 Geylang, via Bukit Merah Central, Jalan Bukit Merah, Alexandra Road, Telok Blangah Road, Kampong Bahru Road, New Bridge Road, Hill Street, Victoria Street, Kallang Road, Lavender Street, Kallang Bahru, Geylang Bahru, Lorong 1 Geylang. (17.8km)
New D: Queen Street to Bedok, via Queen Street, Ophir Road, Victoria Street, Kallang Road, Lavender Street, Kallang Bahru, Geylang Bahru, Bendemeer Road, Whampoa East, Serangoon Road, MacPherson Road, Paya Lebar Road, Ubi Avenue 2, Eunos Link, Jalan Eunos, Sims Avenue East, New Upper Changi Road, Bedok North Road, Bedok North Avenue 3, Bedok North Street 1, Bedok North Drive. (18km)
Four new routes (132.2km), to make up for the shortening of Nine existing routes (183km).
Although the new routes may be long, they would minimise the inconvenience caused.
Total Original = 545km
Total Amended = 362km
Total Removed = 183km (545 - 362)
Total New = 132.2km
Net reduction = 50.8km (183 - 132.2)
{Re-Posting to the appropriate thread}
Can't believe I actually spent one whole day on this. I'm going to stop for a while.
Why do I have a feeling that 53 will be truncated to Pasir Ris following 137's introduction?

Service 61 shorterned to Resorts World Sentosa? Would that cause a loss of link from Eu Tong Sen Street to Eunos?
61,67 & 75 imho give to Serangoon-Eunos,Tampines & Bt Merah package respectively better.SMRT can have three new service..
61 Eunos--Buona Vista.
67 Tampines--Little India(Loop).
75 Marina Centre--Bt Panjang Temp Bus Ter.
BV got space for one more route? Also, what about the BBT-Ngee Ann Poly side? Surely there is demand for that.

This one I have no idea

Yes that bit definitely has demand
For the bus service don't have to think about it lta can't provide the bus service it is not considered to provide the bus service and the bus routes is not considered to be able to get
So that the service have to wait until next announced that the planning official provide for the next area have to wait

How did 137 become Bishan - Pasir Ris? I thought it was planned to start from Sims Place.

My bad...
When I first read this thread I found Vampire77lim saying there may be a new service from Serangoon to Changi Airport (later corrected as Sims Place-CGA), so I thought this service may cover 53's part between Pasir Ris and Changi Airport, to allow truncated Bishan-PSR 53 to receive DDs.
But then I found Vampire77lim in another thread talking about training bus spottings at Serangoon, Ubi, New Upp Changi Rd, Bedok South Rd, ECP etc, so this hypothesis is highly unlikely.
Service 84 extension to Compassvale and handover to SBST
Based on carbikebus' suggestion:

yups credits to carbikebus and your idea, personally i think its good. The more yall post the more i think its worth the extention, given that the punggol coast mrt station coming up within the nxt 5-6 years, but the only thing is handing over to SBS, coz we hav yet to observe such a thing happening so cant rly tell if it will ever happen even if theres a possibility

LTA need to be transparent in this,There is a lot of services can be exchanged for the benefit of BCs and operator..No need like siao off service here and there just to cover the gap.Service 5 als can give to GAS since 60% of the routes is in Eastern.36 can start from Bt Merah and looping at Airport with 36M looping at Siglap Link
136 also can give to Seletar with 25.Bedok takes 155,and GAS takes 29.The proposed 68 can give to Tampines instead.72 should stay with Seletar and 76 with Eunos package.
Should have revived back 274 and make 123 skip Bt Purmei,Wasted time go there leh.

EDIT: Amazingly no one has replied to this for 4 days.
With all the bus stops at Buangkok Crescent being on only 1 side of the road, I am predicting 2 services.
1: Compassvale Int - Buangkok Cres (Loop) via Compassvale Rd, Buangkok MRT, Buangkok Dr
2: Hougang Int - Buangkok Cres (Loop) via Hougang Ave 4/9, Hougang St 91/93

It would be a shame if LTA thinks that only 1 feeder-like service to connect residents there to just 1 MRT station is enough...

- With this change, 371 can get a few DDs.
Guys what do you think?
Wouldn't 371 then be abit too windy for Rivervale Crescent residents if it is amended to Compassvale Crescent? I mean, I know there's always the option of taking LRT then walk but then again, I'm not very familiar with the loading patterns of 371, or any Sengkang routes for that matter. If only there is a right turn into Compassvale Street from Compassvale Crescent then could have easily made 374 do Compassvale Crescent...
