from what I saw, people seem to go to Ranggung LRT than Buangkok due to the distance between the mrt and the flats (too far)

And the bus stops 65011/65019 Punggol Road. Much more bus services.
This is why I am suggesting those new bus services (I still have more suggestions) to bring passengers to Buangkok MRT.
I still have suggestions for 104, 108, and amendments of 156 that I have not posted here yet.

And too few choices of bus services at Buangkok MRT bus stops. So even the residents right in front of Buangkok MRT often walk to Punggol Road bus stops.

Are there any merits of amending 506 (after New Upp Changi Rd) to serve Xilin Ave & Changi Business Park Terminal? Is the existing demand high enough against such a move?
25 is bridging Bedok South & NUC Rd at much higher frequencies, and 46 is the alternative between Bedok South & DTL3 Bedok Reservoir station.

I don't see why not, really. Beyond just Bedok North, such an extension could really bring about a much faster journey from the west side of SG to Changi Business Park ...

Now that we have 25 and 46, I believe we can safely remove 506's connection as very few people are paying express fares when other trunks can do the job.
Having said that, I believe most CBP workers from Toa Payoh and beyond will still take MRT or 129-118, both of which are faster. 506 is basically too winding in Bedok.
Route 254 to be extended via Pioneer Road and Tuas West Drive from 19 May 2017.
Route 192 to be extended via Tuas Road, Pioneer Road and Tuas Avenue 3 from 16 June 2017.

When I boarded 506 at Bedok North Avenue 3 in the morning I noticed a number of students heading towards the schools along Bedok Reservoir Road. So there is a demand between Bedok South / New Upper Changi Road and Bedok Reservoir Road (albeit during school hours). In the evening and on weekends there is also a demand between Bedok Reservoir Road and Upp East Coast Terminal due to NSmen taking IPPT/RT at Bedok Camp.
Of course, one can argue that these passengers can take 46 to Bedok North Avenue 3 and transfer to 66 or 228 (and vice versa). This way, they can save the surcharge (30 cents for students, 60 cents for adults) for express bus. However, if you are in a hurry, having a direct bus is always better than waiting twice, and the additional cost doesn't really matter.

Where is the source?
After 155 was extended to Bedok, I often see empty 155 buses along Bedok North Street 1 and Bedok North Avenue 3. I am wondering if it will be better if 155 is amended to the following
Towards Toa Payoh:
- Bedok Int
- Bedok North Ave 1 (Go straight at Block 546 instead of turning left)
- Bedok North Street 3
- Bedok North Ave 2
- Bedok North Street 1
and so on....
Towards Bedok:
- Bedok North Street 1
- Bedok North Ave 2 (Go straight at Block 515 instead of turning right)
- Bedok North Street 3
- Bedok North Ave 1
- Bedok Int
Benefits:
- relieve long queues for 225G/225W at Bedok Interchange
- direct access between Bedok North St 3 and Heartbeat@Bedok & Bedok Post Office
- direct access between Bedok North St 3 and Bedok South Ave 1 & Siglap
If such an amendment is approved, 155 should switch to berth B1 or B2 in Bedok Interchange. If 155 uses the current berth, nobody from the 225G/225W queues would walk all the way to the 155 queue, practically bringing little or no benefits to the route amendment.

I know this is a rather useless suggestion, but isn't 920 rather useless now besides serving Saujana Rd?
It is only a matter of time before Buangkok MRT gets its crowd..at least 4 BTOs launching late 2017/2018 at Buangkok Crescent area. Definitely there will be new bus routes hopefully linking residents to both Buangkok & Serangoon (suggested by many enthusiasts in previous pages, and by virtue that Buangkok is the nearest MRT station) - or else the route planners are really kumgong to think 101 can serve every residents there, albeit taking a more winding route to Hougang.

102 could have skipped Sengkang MRT and linked Sengkang West residents to Buangkok directly. But guess LTA didn't dare not to provide a direct connection to Sengkang town centre.

I have suggested quite a few bus services here to improve bus links from Hougang/Sengkang towns to Buangkok MRT.
Besides making it easier for residents in Hougang/Sengkang to use Buangkok MRT (and avoid the crowds at Hougang/Sengkang), these services also link residents around Buangkok MRT to other parts of Hougang/Sengkang, as the area is also under-served by bus services currently.
Originally posted by autumncs:Between Serangoon MRT and Punggol MRT on NEL, Buangkok MRT is the only station without a shopping mall. Maybe that explains the lack of crowds.
If every station also needs a shopping mall, what will happen in the future when there are many more MRT lines? Many shopping malls will have not enough tenants.
My suggested Buangkok MRT bus services:
Service 108: Hougang Ctrl - Sengkang East Way (Loop) via Hougang Ave 4/9, Hougang St 91/51, Sengkang Ctrl (Buangkok MRT), Anchorvale Link, Anchorvale Rd
Service 152: Kovan Ter - Compassvale Cres (Loop) via Lor Ah Soo, Serangoon Ctrl, YCK Rd, Buangkok Cres, Buangkok Dr, Sengkang Ctrl , Sengkang Town Centre
Feeder 375G/W: Compassvale Int - Anchorvale Link/Sengkang Ctrl/Rivervale Dr
Feeder 376: Compassvale Int - Sengkang Ctrl (Loop) via Sengkang East/West Way, Sengkang West Rd, Sengkang West Ave, Fernvale Link, Buangkok Dr
34M Punggol--Tampines Int(Loop)
Follow 34 from PGL to Our sports hub then turn left and left again to Int.
Fleet:3 DDs / 3 SDs 5 AP / 1 S.
Frequencies between 8-15 mins..
Svc 39 TC - Yishun via Nee Soon
Current route to SLE
SLE to Upp Thomson Rd
Upp Thomson/Sembawang Rd (Springleaf MRT/NSC)
Yishun Ave 1 (pair of stops right after/before Yishun Ave 1/Sembawang junction)
Continue route to Yishun
The current route from Lentor flyover to NSC on optimal conditions, will take about 25-30 mins (xfer to 169 at Yishun). This amendment will cut short the journey to about 10 mins. An additional 5 mins to travel back to Ave 1/2 junction. In addition, this amendment also shorten travel time from TPE/Jln Kayu to areas like Tagore (xfer to 138/167/169/980 at Nee Soon) and Sembawang Airbase. It also shorten travel time for pax travelling northbound on the NSL by xfering at Khatib instead of Yishun. The 3 stops skipped along Lentor still have subsitutes like 858 and 969. Furthermore, the middle pair of stops are used for pax heading to NSC, by alighting there and walking about 30mins to NSC. The reservoir pair of stops are used by pax heading towards Sembawang Airbase, and walkong about 10mins along Ave 1. This amendment effectively replace the 2 important skipped pairs of stops along Lentor.

Support. The stretch of Sembawang Rd / Upp Thomson Rd is badly connected, transferring to and from 169 at Yishun Central really isn't convenient. Also 138/167/980 don't have HCs or particularly good frequencies.
Only forseeable problem is the loss of direct / quick link between Yishun & Pasir Ris (something that LTA may complain about if suggested).
Btw any considerations with using 85 instead? It has a shorter route (18km) and an easy alternative for Punggol travellers (117).

Hi mr AJQZC, Sengkang west residents will lose the fast link to yishun if service 85 is amended. Cheers. Thanks.
I dont support that. First of all 39 has never been amended all this while as its main role is to directly bring northern people to the eastern area. Many people get to that area for some reasons, and by amending it they can no longer have easy access to there (like what u said), since people dont really like to waste time. Its not easy to make amendments there now since people have used this route for more than 10 years already
Then, resources and road conditions must be at the top of all priorities. I know its easy to convert SDs into DDs since there is probably a LOT of DDs available, however from what I know going through that road actually takes a long time, in addition to the extension of SLE it has to serve (although its probably just 2km), and as I said the people cannot afford to accept this since this has been the fastest and only link to PSR, not to mention that it has been here for a long time
Though ironically I have a route which can help that
man this is a throwback of when someone wanted to cut short 966...

Commuters dont take 85 to Yishun from Punggol. The main loadings to Yishun is from Sengkang West/Jln Kayu to Yishun bro. Most 85 commuters take from Punggol to Sengkang West.
