I have a feeling these first 16 A95's were possible only after LTA took 16 more of the E500's away from the 100 or so intended for SMRT originally. 1-for-1 replacement?

In my opinion, I feel that it is the decision of the LTA to order new units of the MAN Double Decker bus. This is so that the MAN Double Decker forms the majority of - or sole model of - the high capacity buses in at least one GCM package, since anyway there are already some MAN Double Decker buses. The number of units should be around 190 units, or 380, 570, 760, 950, 1140.... a number that is able to divide equally, so that the MAN Double Decker is the only (or majority of the) high capacity bus model(s) in the GCM package(s) where this model of high capacity buses are deployed to. Whereas for the forty units of MAN Articulated Buses, I guess the LTA may absorb them and use them until they reach the maximum of their lifespan, before it replaces them with future new models of Double Decker buses. As there are only forty units, if absorbed and deployed, it is probably going to be in a GCM package with only two to four feeder bus routes.
