What programming language should I learn? Coders advice me!

  i learning C now

  learnt Java and assembly before

   

  Java and C or C++ got alot of similarities

  u learn java = learning 60-70% of C++ imo and vice versa

  but i must say i like assembly alot. woots!

  Isn't PHP a scriping language for websites? Like JavaScript? I want one that is useful, or widely used in robotics.

  They suggest that C and Basic is good, so I guess I will learn C first (as they say that only brain-damaged people learn Basic as a first programming language) than something else also.

  BASIC is too easy.

   

  If you like, then take C then progress to C++.

  I learnt C as a first language... it was useless to me.

  Then I learnt Java.  And with that I could do JSP, and J2EE and J2ME stuff.  

  And guess what? It was almost identical to C#!  

   

  In anycase, I reccommend Java.  Cos you can write applications that work on any bloody platform.  Windows, Linux, Mac... you name it, it'll run.

  With java, you can move on to server side scripting easily using jsp.  You'll get to learn about both enterprise level programming as well... 

  So many doors open with java!

  In the area of robotics , you should consult a lecturer who can give u notes on microcontroller programming

  like Motorola 68000 or 68HC11

  this will form the controller function

  to interface with the PC ,you will need C or C++ for microcontroller

  due to the language understand to human

  Java is not recommended becos you are dealing with Input Output functions to a Ports and Serial Communications port
