Then I better ask her not to sign the option or if not can easily get life imprisonment cos hers as you know,is a drug case.Better ask my friend if Yanling has signed yet or not. Will let you know by tomorrow when I call my friend.
If she has signed, then she will be on trial in the coming few months and her fate is sealed.

Is she their only child?
Since you say she can afford to have good food to eat before she goes to jail, that means her family is quite rich how come now you say until they are so poor?

if the family has the money, dun think she is in there for 3 months past. only waiting for the court to pass the sentence to seal her fate

She is the only child and she worked PT during her JC days to enjoy the high life.
Thread Starter, reading some of your posts, I still can't make head or tail of the story.
Just to clarify some finer points - drug consumption and drug trafficking are two different things. The former is less serious than the latter. So which one your friend/relative has committed or is being accused of?
Singaporean overseas has this repution or infamy of being taken as rich. So there is this danger of rogue Police framing or setting Singaporean up for greater crime to extract bride money! So beware!
Caution you friend/relative when signing foreign Police statement. If possible get her to sign Police statement only in the presence of a lawyer!
What you can do is to search the net for Indonesian pro bono lawyer (lawyer for free) and contact any one to ask if he/she can handle your friend/relative case for free.
I know it is a long shot but you should try! I have found one but not sure if it's willing to help:-

What about the rich playboy? Can his family help? Try contacting him and see how the case goes!
She was charged with drug possession of cocaine and comsumption of it,absconding and overstaying.
The rich playboy refused to help and to even talk to her Indo friend who went to talk to him.The last time the Indo friend went over, she was told that he is out of the country.

I dont know about Indonesia Law. But generally speaking, drug possession and consumption are not capital punishments.
It is not the same as murder, rape, drug trafficking! People dont get jail sentence for so long as your friend/relative! Try your best to help her.
Contact Singapore Embassy in Indonesia to see if it can assist your friend/relative. Contact some pro bono Indonesia law websites and see how it goes!
If you can, fly down to Indonesia and speak to the Police yourself!
And one more thing! This also a warning to all Singapore travellers!
Out there overseas, dont expect Singapore's level of efficiency, justice, fairness and transparency!
It's animal farms, dog-eat-dog world and kangaroo court out there!
The police can be robber and robber can be murderer!

Yah, the police can be the robber, that's very true.
Okay, will see what I can do for her next week when I am there.Wlil check if she did sign the stupid form or not.
Some (not all) of our community centers offer free legal aids. Go ask any community center which and where is one nearest you and make an appt at your fastest convenience and time.
I have downloaded this list before but believe it is outdated!
Ask them for legal advice and see if they can put you into contact with our local authority and/or Indonesia authority/legal aids.
If everything fails and before you go, contact our Singapore embassy here. I believe it is under the purview of our Ministry of Foreign Affair. Better still, go there yourself to explain this case.
See if it can get an embassy representative over in Indonesia to accompany you on the prison visit.
Just got news...Yanling signed the form not to cause any troubles to her parents.

What sort of family is this? The last thing they should be concerned of is her giving more problem!
The daughter is facing bullying, rape, undernorishment, malnutrition, sodomy or false accusation and maybe worse, scapegoating or false scapegoating/accusation heaping upon her young soul.
And her family is here worrying about face? shhhh......
Well, this is their family business. We better not chup too much.Best I can do is to visit her regularly when I go over there to work in June.

KK is correct...Yanling finished her JC 3 years ago and started to work after that. She will be on trial within 2 months.Just on the phone just now with my friend...Heard from him that when Yanling was 15 years old,her mother took her go temple to pray and the fortune teller told her mother that her dotter will have something good very or very bad will happen to her in her 20s and advised the mother to look after her carefully.
I don't buy this stuff but it seems too much of a coincidence.

See if can bring this case to MP.
Sell now to get money release for she. Later, rent HDB flat.
I believe they have relaxed the ruling for HDB rental now!
I don't think it's wise to do that now cos her parents have heart problems and not good to aggravate their health. The mother already quite weak from anger and shock at the news.Besides as an outsider, not good to interfere in their family affairs too much.
Originally posted by RenesisTurbo:They demanded 80k but after bargaining, managed to bring down to 70k.
But forget about it...Yanling's parents can't raise that kind of crazy money. She has to be prepared to lead a very hard life and grow in the process when she is in prison.
The authorities even asked Yanling if she wanted to get a quick trial and get it over with last month. She is still considering about it.
Later when you go there and if you can confirm that it is just consumption and not trafficking, try to convince the parents to put aside face and to bring this case to the media!
Getting 70K from public fund is not something difficult, can be raised easily!
When comes to this sort of thing, Singaporeans show heart and donate!
