I used to frequent there a lot for the past 10 years.
It's been almost a year since Borders closed down, but i'm still sad over it.
I have lots of childhood memories at there.
I also missed Clementi Big Bookshop. It's like my second home where i grew up in, i used to frequent there when i was a little kid.
Why has all the famous bookstores in Singapore been closed down?
Does anybody feel sad over this?
When I was young, I used to travel all the way to borders wheelock place from jurong. I stay there quite a few hours, read some books, and if I love the book I'll buy the book. That was when I was 13 years old! Totally love the place!
I use to hole up at borders parkway before it closes down.....good thing kinokuniya is still around...wat a relieft....^^
I grew up with MPH parkway parade branch.
MPH stamford main branch closed down..felt a bit sad.but the books there also look sad....not enough great exciting books or far out stuff to put it on the map!
ever since they closed down, i hv no where to buy my magnetic day-to-day calendar.
I had two different ones for 2 years.
Now I hv nothing to tear and everyday i also miss borders.
there is only Kinokuniya left
i miss the clementi big book shop!
The most sad things is when the all EPB book shops had closed down . In fact those during my age knew that the EPB book shops selling their quality brand magazine named the "Young Generation" magazine where it is an quality education magazine with it cute characters like Professor Bobby, Constable Acai etc, way 1000 times better than Naruto the pang sai
during that times. Now the EPB book shop had changed to some Marshall Cavendish publishing shop with no book shop.
And the famous times book stores also closed a few outlet, changed from blue and white logo to an orange one and only a few remain in some shopping centres. Finally the only local book shops that call the shot are Popular now. So sad.
Best range of stationery for a major bookshop would be Page One, but that's closing down at the end of this month.
this is what happens when people stop reading...
i've known too many people who have said that the last book they read was the textbook just before they graduated (from uni, poly.. whatever)

why?
Why buy books when google will do the job? Why read stories, when you can read someone else's blog?

And not to forget to mention why buy books when you have Singapore National Library or you can rent books at a very cheap price @ San Bookshop. Google books not all can read the whole pages, they will only show part of it and omit the rest out.

Because people like you been reading there for 10 years for free without buying anything. That's the reason why they close down. Haaa.....

Who the hell uses google books? Heard of scrib?
i grew up with TPY popular
yep i feel sad... my office just beside borders and now i have to walk far far to buy my books...
Never quite like the Border layout. Maybe the Wheelock one is fine because you can read and drink coffee outdoors. But I always prefer Kinokuniya over Borders. Kinokuniya got manga comics !
I miss Clemente big bookshop too. Sad that page one is going too. Now left kino and prologue. I think prologue is next to go. Hardly any customers. Funny that cd stores like HMV still around but bookstores are going away.
big book shop is cool because they sell the old school lone wolf gamebook!
I grew up with sgforum and facebook, who need a bookshop anyway, get an amazon bookpad and can read whatever you like...so silly to go bookshop nowaday.
