i feel that i need to see a shrink

Hi guys…
Just wondering…any of you have any experience with psych? Psychiatrist…psychologist..because I feel I need to see one..I have many issues/problems that I had hoped I could grow out of, but up til now it just seems to get worst. Avoidant personality, paranoia, self-defeating personality etc tt leads me to have depression of some form cos I can’t remember when was the last time I was happy.
No one knows how to help me, and now it seems no one cares anymore..I’ve tried to self-motivate and stuff, but it doesn’t work.
Any good and economic recommendations? Thanks!!

Before the psychiatrist there is always the counsellor.

@FireIce : I 'm 23 now...I think those helplines are for youth?

Contact IMH or go check out their website....can arrange a shrink to talk to you....if its depression, the medications are quite cheap....about S$7 to S$10....the expensive part is the consultation....can be S$20 to S$55.... if you find other private practice psych, it may costs S$150+ to S$350+

No what I meant is I got perverted nowadays got to go for treatment.I got tempted to touch a women on MRT.
Got to see shrink. Myabe medicine can help. Or maybe psychotheraphy can help.

For example, Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) is 1800-221-4444
or... maybe the SAMH hotline at 1800 283 7019?
If you see a psychiatrist now, the costs may escalate beyond what you expected. If you can afford it, fine. But if you can't, or possibly even if you can, the bills might just add on to your woes especially when you're all of 23.
Yah and not to mention the medicine. If you are prescribed something you may end up becoming overly dependent on it. There may be other better ways to go about say, lifting yourself out of gloom on one day, but I dunno, if you see medicine as a quick-fix solution then it becomes a problem and not a solution.

If you are a student, all public educational institutions have free counselling services for their students. Otherwise, drop in to a Family Service Centre in your estate and ask to see a counsellor.

Counsellor dun issue medication....if medication is what you want, better go IMH...cheaper than private doctors.

Just go there and sit comfy and talk to the doc....be frank and sincerely seek guidance...

Medication should help your moods under control....also if you do smoke, stop it...nicotine can worsen depression....

Almond, someone refer u there?I got go hypnotherapy before...but even after quite a no. sessions not much diff...cos idk la, i just feel e lady hypno seem to be judging me :C or maybe i over paranoid..plus is v ex..so i stopped..

She keep trying to force me out my shell by introducing all sort of ppl to me (her friends, her friends children, their friends etc) and den I get all panicky..I get panic attacks sometimes my heart beats so fast n i start to have prob breathing.
I tell my ma already what I feel, den she just says "im not trying hard enough". But I even get physical symptoms (I try to hide it tho), what is the "not trying hard enough"? I reach my limit le...even though I try vvvv hard..just cannot.

I actually heard many things about psych (both of them) that they like to issue meds, and even diagnose things that are not there, just to give a 'name' to wht the person is feeling, even if its ST?

I shld hv gone when I was in sec...but I was too scared to..cos in Sec e prob started escalating..to see counsellor in FSC need to pay how much?
@DemonBane : I dont' smoke or drink...but got emotional eat..
@MooKu : thanks for e advice, I know a bout probs with med dependency...or I might even try to cut them out too soon n get even worst..cos I don't like meds..but I thot those in these fields (psych) would know better to help than a counsellor? idk tho.. -

If you genuinely need help, why scared? I think docs in IMH are on-par or even better than other private practice docs....

If you can afford the Private Practitioners go to them. Govt hospitals ones are hopeless. They are too fast to condemn and judge to cure. I come across drs who not credible type.

That's exactly what I heard...
@Demon: I don't exactly need to see a private doc...for me, low cost and high effectiveness more important..how about counsellor then? -
If you want "better service" and no waiting time and can afford it, of cos go private doctors....but since you want "economical" then I recc IMH lor....
