Why video gamers always being labeled "nerd"?

What you people think of video gamers?
Nerds, boring people who have no life, no gfs, just sit at home and face the tv so much hours? Or its just their hobby that and & something to entertain them? Just like everyone who have their own hobbies.
Or issit the type of games they play that define them nerds or not? I been playing console games since young and still do so. Just that now I dont play any genres. I only play puzzles, action adventure, some platforming, those with great gameplay and great stories. Especially those with history, political, philosophy and religious theme. These are the games that can keep me hooked for hours.
Fighting, racing, sports dont appeal to me anymore. Unless got a human player to play with. But still will get bored fast.
Im only into PS3 and buying Wii soon. I dont fancy computer gaming though.
I can see more and more people playing games now compared to last time.

It's because of the games that you are playing.I play games and I am not labelled as nerd.
You should play MMORPG games. It's fun and interesting. You can F ppl n called them noobs.

Gamer in a long term tends to shy themselves from the actual world, they prefer to live in a gaming world, where they can fight, win and succeed with no one help, it is good to play game, as a gal, i play Wii sport games, very good for my hand exercise, I also got Xbox kintec from a lucky draw, the screen is so real. Games are good for our brain, it make them work, think and get excited, but if you are able to relate games to your studies, working or business in a real world, it will be perfect.
Just like in games, we like to win, even failed or unable to go to the next level, we think and rethink on our mistakes and what we should do to overcome it, then when you reach the highest level, game over, no more fun, you look for other exciting games or consoles, in a real world, if we are able to fight all the way from level to level, psle, to o level to A level to U level to M level, to PhD level, and so on, just like game, then we really achieved something from playing game, and in working, we strive to get perfect job done, so that we can be promoted and so on, in business, we might fail, but we stand up and relook at our mistake and start to play again, fight for another day...if you know how to apply games strategy into our daily working/studying/business life, games are really good for you.

All about moderation and time management.
If one spends time too much playing games......means = less time doing other activities, such as sports, socializing, studying and working.
1 day only has 24 hours.

The type of people you described doesn't seem like nerds to me...more like otakus...real computer nerds like mark zuckerberg are pretty cool right now and intelligent...
so yes to be labelled a nerd now is quite an honour...and you're not a nerd if you're just an otaku or gaming addict...

Nerd = study too much
Keyboard warrior = only know how to talk online, but don't dare show face
Arab = high ping/ laggers
Noob/Nub = lousy.
Pro = Very good!
Otaku = Stay at home much

how about joining some activity once a week?
join some cc or sdu games or activities lor, sure got human interaction one.
u can take archery courses, martial arts courses, join club play soccer, golf or even go to church or temple.
knn, dont alway sit at home lah..

Our society likes to label people mah. No choice.
Like PAP is labelled as good and opposition is labelled as worthless.
Alot of ppl are labelled as geeks and nerds.
Some computer pro and IT savvy ppl are labelled as Geeks and nerds too.
My sec school class got one spectacles very thick and with a nerdy look also labelled as nerd and bullied at schools.

well gamers are lifelesss and geeks who think their cool but those who go on fb 24/7r also lifeless geeks with nothing bttr 2 do... i find alot of geeks in government schools though............ the typical governtment school geek: glasses pimples buck teeth, who dont bother 2 get braces, ppl who dnt wrry bout their looks, skinny ppl etc. alot in government schls!!
