Hi all!i am currently going to serve NS this year and by the time i come out i will be 21,i am thinking of studying ITE when i am 22(maybe nitec, but i hope higher nitec). If i am only out of 1 point to higher nitec can i appeal?i got a 17 for my N levels ELMAB3.But my maths i got a C5.Their criteria for higher nitec for maths must be 1-4.Lets say i got into higher nitec and then make it to poly for diploma,by the time i am already 26.And if i still want to study for degree,by the time i graduate i will be 29-30.Question is,am i too old to study ITE?I mean 22 years old and still wearing ITE uniform is abit pai seh to me,but thats not the point.Just wanna hear you about your opinion.
I got fren who went ITE at age 24, come out 25, and went to polytechnic at 26, now come out 28.
So u go figure.
It's never too old to study to upgrade.
Life by itself is a learning process, if the curve bend down, it mean you are not updating yourself, there is no age limit in education, as long as u hv a direction, an objectives, be discipline and stick to it, you will succeed. After my diploma, i go on to study in the servicing sector, liquor knowledge, bartending, bartop dancing, how to run a SME, HR, basic accounting and many other small soft courses, even now, i am still learning how to do a salsa dance.
If you let age become a barrier to your education, you will never get educated.
It's nv too old...
Don't worry :) You will be fine. I am going in too..... I am 22 and you are 19...
Yup, learning is a lifelong process...never too old to study.
Why not? I've seen people above 50 years old studying for a degree in a university. That person has grandchildren.

Don't worry, you will still be young when you graduate at 30.
Dun be paiseh, just do well then u can go for further upgrading(eg;relevant courses in poly etc) all the best !=>
*the criteria 4 higher nitec 4 mathes may vary depend on the courses u choose
there are many ways no dead ends.
You can do a private bridging course then straight to poly in private institute. Google it yourself.
You can also work part time, and do a part time nitec course. For this you can get support under WDA. This way you dont need to wear uniform.
And of course there is your usual ITE route.
yo got 30 good years after your ITE-Poly-Uni route. Congrats! Got 2 friends who are first time commercial pilots at age 37 and 44! Never too old.
But then, overly extreme educaton can make some heywired, if you dun like education, you can try to learn a skill, my former cook only PSLE, but he learns cooking since young and still learning, now a chef at Fairmont, specialise in Chinese and French cruisine. I let him go, cos I felt is a waste to cook here in Joo chiat hotel.
you so old liao.
go study part time lah. cannot afford to waste any more time.
you need time to save up money for your own house, wedding etc you know. cannot be still repaying study loan at 30+ years old.
i think you are old and sensible enough to know that studies is important, and therefore, its time for you to buck up and take a little hardship.
work at day and study at night. try your best to catch up with your peers.
one's employment potential is best between 20-30. after 30, inertia set in, and you will find it very difficult to progress in your career, unless you are highly highly qualified.
If ts feel too old, then how about those working adults who take up night class?

i think TS is talking about feeling too old to do full-time studies.
jus go ahead and study only. the more the merrier.
There is no too late to study, but I think you can explore other education options such as industrial certifications.
In some cases, industrial certifications is more useful.
yeah it's good. never too late, plus age acceptance range for ite/poly is really really far. 30 plus is good too.
in an elite and academic conscious society, industrial certs mean that u r a skilled worker...no more and no less...
ultimately there r 2 options in such society....either u excel academically or succeed in entrepreneurship.....else, be comforted with what u r and hymn the Sing Singapore Song
I know I am stupid.
If you worry by the time you get degree you will be old, then don't go for ITE > Poly > Degree.
Can try A Level > Local U, but you really have to work hard if you want to go local U. If cannot go local U, still can take Private Degree.
Or Private Diploma > Private Degree, but this path is really expensive, for sure you need to work and study part-time, unless your parents got money to support. By the way, I took this path, spent about 30K+ (course fees, bank interest, transport and etc), not much money and tiring because working and studying. I was worse than you, only PSLE when I finished NS... Or like some of my campmates, they finished their private diploma / degree during NS, don't know how they do it but they did.
Now I have a degree at 27 years old, could have gotten it at 25 or 26, but I didn't have enough money to pay for it at that time, so I saved up for about 1 or 2 years.
But no matter which path you take, if your parents are not going to support you or you prefer to work and pay by yourself, then start saving money now. It sucks when you want to study but don't have money.
And since you are going NS, you will have a lot of time to think and find out, who knows things might be different after 2 years of NS.
From a entrepreneur perspectives, today, having a degree or diploma carries not much weight in a society of foreign talents and multi- university certs. I suggest you look opportunity to start a business, initial, you may fail, but nevermind, try again, once you become successful, you can employ graduates to do the work for you. Otherwise, with degrees or diplomas, you still a labourer taking pay. I am not saying having a tertiary education is no good, but learn to be a businessman, alots of student in singapore learned business admin, suppose to be doing business, but end up working for others.
