What is the meaning of SPAM?

I was accused of spamming this afternoon.
I wish to ask what is the definition of spam.
Wat did I do?
I went to my moderated forums to post a few topics...all with different headers and non-related messages.
The new SDu/SDS poster
The evolution of Man and Computer
It is not wat you think it is
etc...
Am i spamming? I am simply posting them in a short time span, and yes, for a moment, some of the threads are high on top of the Newest Topic list... do u define this as spam?
If I post the same topic at many different forum, is tat spam?
Dun accuse pple until u get your facts right. So disappointed with the person who accuse mi...
Too bad, mi in foul mood recently, u just stepped on mi tail and openly accuse mi of tat in shoutbox; I have to clear mi name in the public too... sick of the way u handle things at times...

1) unsolicited advertising through e-mail or related sources.
2) To indiscriminately send large amounts of unsolicited e-mail meant to promote a product or service
3) many people also refer to excessive posting as spamming

5) Posting a message to a significant proportion of all newsgroups is a sure way to spam Usenet and become an object of almost universal hatred.
6) To abuse any network service or tool by for promotional purposes

I found 1 forum that states :-

Spam is generally used to mean "repeated actions" to irritate or annoy people.
From the posts, there are too many big graphical references within a short window of time that consumes too much loading time and waste unnecessary time for online users.
The truth is, there are more appropriate words than the word 'spam'.
It is better to refer it as "flooding" than spam.
Advertisements are better known as 'spam' -
from what i see from croco's posts, i don't think he was in the wrong. We gave him the mod job and it's his duties to boost up ratings for our forums, and for these we were grateful of him.
it's just that someone bei song with him and fell irritated to see the forum full of croco's name and complain to the mod...
why can't all of us just give and take? -
