Ah ha... nice one.. Must admit it's making me excited liao. Though i must say Jay doesn't seem to fit in very well, he looks kinda idiotic in the so-called 'Takumi's clothes', and don't come telling me that becoz of his small eyes it' gonna make him look like a sleepy Takumi. And don't tell me the guy wearing a bandana with a smoking cigarette is Takahashi Keisuke. But who cares about who's acting in the movie. I'm gonna watch this!!

One thing though in the last few seconds which shows the FC and Trueno drifting and the Initial D logo comes after that. For a moment I thought the FC crashed and exploded.

Media Asia Films has recently revealed its HK$100m manga adaptation Initial D at a press conference in Japan. The event was graced by a stellar guest list, including the filmÂ’s directors Andrew Lau and Alan Mak, as well as their Hong Kong, Taiwanese, and Japanese cast of Edison Chen, Jay Chou, Anne Suzuki, Anthony Wong, Chapman To, Kenny Bee, Jordan Chan and Shawn Yue. Mr. Peter Lam, chairman of Media Asia Group, was also present to support the gang.
Initial D is Jay Chou’s theatrical debut, and this nuanced leading man naturally became the media’s attention. “There’re lots of racing scenes in the film,” the pop idol said jokingly, “but fortunately the ubiquitous paparazzi has perfected my driving skill.”
Edison Chen, the other main actor, was being a gentleman and chatting with his co-star Anne Suzuki in his manageable Japanese.
The press conference was the first time for 17-year-old Anne Suzuki to meet his male cast members, and she praised them for their gentleness. When asked whom she was most fond of, Anthony Wong declared, “I’m married, don’t pick me.” The actress replied she would answer after familiarizing with them later on. After the conference, Suzuki had to depart immediately for her high school exam.
Initial D is about the fastest street racer of Mt Akina. Takumi, a delivery boy; Ryousuke, an engineer of speed; and Kyouichi, a professional racer: the three of them become duelists of drifts.
For five years, 18-year-old Takumi has been delivering tofu in his father's obsolescent Toyota AE86 every morning. Not only has he become a good racer, but he has also unwittingly perfected the art of drifting.
He was never an aficionado of hill racing until he is asked by his father to drive his AE86 in a David and Goliath race against Night Kids' EVO IV. A glorious but unexpected victory awakens the competitive genes in his blood, while his overnight fame inevitably leads to hellraising races one after another, each one more perilous and exciting than the previous one. -
ANNE SUZUKI AT CANNES FOR MEDIA ASIA FILMSÂ’ US$10M MOVIE EVENT INITIAL D
Initial D, Media Asia FilmsÂ’ most anticipating production, is finally confirmed to begin principal photography this summer. The cast and crew are also set and ready to go, which include the award-winning directors of the Infernal Affairs Trilogy, Andrew Lau and Alan Mak, as well as AsiaÂ’s heartthrobs Jay Chou and Edison Chen. Anne Suzuki of the Japanese action blockbuster The Returner will play Natsuki Mogi, the girlfriend of JayÂ’s character. Anthony Wong, Jordan Chan, Shawn Yue and Chapman To will round up the cast.
With a production budget over US$10 million, the film will be lensed entirely in Japan, including the exotic Mt. Akina. The cast and crew will stay on location for months, and the directors have already reserved about 100 race cars for the shoot. The Japanese mechanical experts have intricately modified each car to appear with lightning speed on screen. Jay, Edison and other cast members will arrive in Japan shortly for racing practices and to familiarize with various race cars. The film company has also purchased over $10 million of insurance for the entire production team.
Though Initial D has yet to begin lensing, but Media Asia Distribution is already discussing overseas rights with enthusiastic international distributors in this yearÂ’s Cannes Film Festival. Leading lady Anne Suzuki will also be at the annual event to promote the film, and be interviewed by the foreign press such as Variety and Hollywood Reporter. She will also attend Media Asia FilmsÂ’ celebration party on a luxurious yacht.
