I have NEVER played the arcade game before, but looking at the machines and the comments...
some say they like the game because it is realistic...
so, i thought the least the game company could do was to redesign the machine and game.
for example
1. adding a clutch and have the half clutch! the lousy drivers will 'si(2) chia(1)'. i know its almost impossible to do it the virtual world because you can't FEEL it... but wouldn't it be fun? muahahaha
2. instead of going up up down down on the gear shift... why not have ALL the gears like a real car... throw in a reverse gear too!
3. maybe positioning the gear stick lower to the side, so it'll really feel like a car...
4. having a virtual rear view mirror...
5. no 3rd person view
6. real damage!...
7. ...after damage, pay for the damages!
just some thoughts from someone who doesn't play the game. -

Well those are cool ideas.....but generally i think lesser people will play it if it's too realistic (like the Ferrari Challenge)...part of the appeal of IDAS is that it is easy to pick up....so i doubt sega will add those changes.....and erm Initial D is not realistic at all..the physics are so fake! But it's fun nonetheless..

True what Hira said. But then why does the ID intro have the cars drifting when you can't do it in the game? Well of all the suggestions, the most difficult to implement and use would be the clutch system. This would definitely kill off the younger players or those who can't handle the clutch. But yeah clutch would be fun, at least this would give some hope of drifting the car in the game if the car can be drifted.

totally agree. my friends and I used to discussed that what if ID or most racing games have a real clutch system built in. I would say someone would be good enough to be able to do a drift in Gran Turismo 3 or master the drifting entry point and exiting point with heavy traffic in Outrun 2.This might prevent 'younger players' (i wont say kids in case I get flamed haha) to stop thinking they are good in IDAS or God of somekind lol. Gives those people with a driving license an advantage too

Anyway, look at the nature of this game. It's an arcade game that is not supposed to be realistic. So i doubt they will add in a clutch. It will cost them more money to manufacture the machines and they will lose money because inevitably, less people will play it. And it's Initial D Arcade Stage, not Initial D Simulator. -

haha dude dude, in case you do not know, i;ve seen people really brag like they are the God of something, which had lead to what I said above. No joke. . These are the minorities of people who spoilt e entire image of arcade goers. Not all, but merely minorities. Even some of my IDAS friends who are really good at it are getting off the scene by such individuals around

If there was a god of driving, it would have to be Takumi Fujiwara loh. Unless your dad taught you how to drive his car at the age of 13 and get your license at 18. And during those years, keep driving uphill and downhill delivering tofu early in the morning using a cup of water as your G-meter. When its boring, try to get the car as close to the barriers as possible for kicks. Learn new stunts like driving with wheels in the longkang or even "floating" above it. Until you can drive like Takumi Fujiwara or better than his dad, Bunta, so to speak will I acknowlege someone as god of driving.

Kopiosatu, there actually is already a rearview mirror. It's in the centre at the top of the screen. It's only sideview mirrors that is not in the game.
And speaking of the 3rd person view, there are some bugs still not worked out from ver2 to ver3. If you drive at Akina DH, in the 1st person mode, you can actually feel you are going over the strips even though you're on the next lane. But if you go on the same spot in 3rd person view, this will not happen.
And another bug is on Myogi. If you see the replay which is in 3rd person view, you can see that (when going uphill) the rear wheels are off the ground. The car is half floating.
. This is very weird especially if the car is RWD. -

One of the techniques of not letting the water in the cup spill out is said to be impossibl to do but the technique of entering into the gutter for a faster hairpin turn was done by him before years ago but not in Akina, but in fact Myogi. He also mentioned about the Perfect Drift, saying that in 100 professional Racers, about 20 can do the Perfect Drift and at that time only 5-6 out of the 20 can do it successfully. Imagine how hard it is to do those techniques in real life

Even he admits he makes mistakes at times, no one is perfect. Takes practice, practice and lots of practice. That is unless your family name happens to be Fujiwara and you sell tofu of course. -

Well.... Frankly speaking, i too would like to have a clutch system installed. But i further thoughts i would still prefer as it is. IDAS is not realistic. There is one game though i think should have a clutch installed. It's a new game called Wangan Midnight-Maximum Tune or something. With all that so called 'realistic' gear shift and such, i think the thing that is missing is the clutch. To me with the clutch, it will be much more fun and put a 'feeling' of enjoyment of driving your 'car'.

anyway imagine u see someone stalling a car while racing because he forgot to engage clutch when foot off accelerator.
or hear their gearbox grinding when the clutch out too early.. -

if the seats don't move a little, you won't know if the clutch is gonna engage.
or if it stalls, the seats will shake and scare the younger ones!!!
