Trueno AE86 Questions

Hiya people,
Just got back to using my 86 recently. I'm not too sure about the shift points and stuff. Anybody can teach? Btw, my engine isnt changed yet. So can appreciate if people can tell me the shift points for before and after engine change.
And another thing, I saw this guy playin Akina using an 86 today. His method of drifting (or power sliding
) was to turn the corner while in gear 5. Then halfway thru the turn he'll downshift to gear 4, and then back to gear 5 again a couple seconds after he exits the corner. Any of you 86 drivers do that?
My method is to down shift, brake and then make the turn. Well, oshiete kudasai

after engine change I shift at 9, 11, 11, 11. Donno right or not.

Saw this at the arcades over here in Melbourne. I'll go check up on his nick and post it here, not that it'll make a diff rite?

I have seen some other people do that for AE86. I think the reason is to get more power to the rear wheels during the turn so as to push the rear end of the car away from the side and round the turn.Originally posted by naniokore:Hiya people,

Quite a dangerous thing to do since at the point of downshifting, speed is turned into power and if your car is not aligned properly, this method is more likely to push your car into the side rather than out of the turn. -

im starting a trueno this weekend so i need to know the shift points before and after the engine change pls...

ha ha... lemme tell u, this car might seem fun to use. but it's not, no power, tough handling and TONS of sliding.
moi shift points - 8>9.75>10.5>10.5 -
yeah its hard to use but i like it cause of the anime... but i also have a 800k points bnr34

It's not that hard, just that you've to anticipate to counter-steer at the exits of corners. Borrowed a 300k tuned Trueno from a friend, and did Akina DH dry with a 3'07. This is really Akina's car. akina UH is slightly different. it more understeer on uphill...

sigh, just change my tires accidentally yest....yolk tires now. and my timing got slower leh. So sian. Any idea which tire is good??

Hm... anyone know which exhaust and wheels are good for the Trueno?? And I think I also changed my brakes... is that even possible??

i think i'm the one using the entering with 5th gear and about to turn i shift down to 4th gear and go back to 5th.. i realise that 3th version is more real.. as now my steering i set to 7 instead of 9. cos it's even harder to steer at 9.. very shag. and in this version the speed is slower and more real.. i realise that only trueno can do the drift without brake and by downshifting.. cos once you downshift to 4th and steer.. the car will slide and you have to countersteer at the point of drifting..like when you are going to turn at a left hairpin after the downshift and steer left quickly and steer to the right once you feel your car is drifting and pump your acceleration and control it.. * not too hard on the acceleration or you will hit the kerbs.. *
that's the way i negotiate turns.
