Actually, if you are driving a real car, you will step on the brakes first to decrease the RPM of the engine before downshifting. An example will be your car's RPM is reving at 7000 RPM and you would like to slow down, so the correct technique is to step on the brake first to bring the RPM down to about 4000 - 5000 RPM before downshifting. At 4000 - 5000 RPM, if you downshift, your RPM will jump back to 7000 RPM again .. So, if you were to downshift at 7000 RPM, your RPM will shoot up to 9000 or even 10000RPM and will definitely damage the engine or even blow the engine. The RPM range also depends on your gear ratio..

for this game, its best to downshift first before u step on brakes or release the accelerator... and sometimes its good not to turn the steering wheel to its maximum... try turning to half a turn while u r braking... the FF car would drift and probably clear a corner in a faster speed.... Erm take for example Akina, for the turns u try downshifting gear for the whole game
Then u try braking for the turns then u compare... U can see that the Braking method gains back speed much faster and at the end of the race u can see that it is faster by most probably 8 seconds...
Thats why alot of ppl brake for turns at akina and other maps rather than downshifting... -
1000% Agreed! Braking. turn then upshift will give u more exiting power.

Some ppl downshift first, use engine braking then step on e brakes. i would prefer to downshift much later, but by 2 gears n brakes then upshift 1 gear before entering e corner. tis will be a faster way in terms of timing. cos yr car will lose speed at a greater rate much later.
