finally completed the original story mode... finally got the chance to drive on the original tracks.

tried the game for the 1st time on my copyversion on PS2..
my observations from a first-time player of the game:- dunno what's going on coz it's japanese...
beat the computer challenger easily from an anyhow choose car...
the gameplay is really boring... prefer Gran Turismo...
the "song" is irritating at best, but mostly annoying...
gamepad play is not recommended but i couldn't be stuffed to buy a steering wheel, even for GT3
smooth graphics.. very much like the arcade version which seems just as smooth
very unrealistic physics... much like GTAdvanced where you can make hairpins in a street vehicle at 120 km/h (you WILL turn turtle no matter who says what when the tyres bite)
personally, i think it's overhyped... trying to be too many things... it's trying to be simulator but the physics is all wrong.. it's trying to be an arcade game but does not have the over-the-top stuff like in Crazy Taxi... it's trying to be like a movie with a plot, but no one knows what's going on coz it's in Japanese... it's trying to be "bad" with unsavory characters around... it's trying to win over the "wholesome crowd" with a lack of mayhem...
so it ends up being a very trying game...
i'd rather play Def Jam Vendetta or Gran Turismo -
Hey bear u got a point there...the game may seem to "SuC*" for some ppl yes i agree that point cause if we dun have a interest its very hard to say its very good... I also personally think that GT serious game have been a very successful game and has win alot oof gamers heart cause the game is much more way more exciteing than Initial D...so if suddenly u changed to play Initial D it maybe will seem to be boring to u cause u play much exciting game that that...For some ppl they play arcade Initial D but as we all know $$$ has always been the problem so maybe the PS2 solved quite alot of problem so it is interesting and exciting for some hard core and so-so players... a gamer is always open to new games... just that i didn't like this one...
like i didn't know what to expect with Def Jam Vendetta.. read about the gameplay, gave it a go and liked it a lot
some games, although people gave it great rating, i didn't like... one was Resident Evil...
as for Initial 'D, i'll actually give the disc to someone who may appreciate it more...

many of my friends also tell me that gran turismo is much better than initial d. i am gonna go buy it too then...
but initial d is interesting to me cos i am a fan of the manga and anime. anyway, the new tracks in special stage are really fun. try it. -
idss is more for the fans of the anime, manga and the arcade stage. it is supposed to be a port of the arcade stage and lets the players drift like nobody business. but the gameplay is not 100% similiar to arcade stage, and the gt force is not as good as the arcade wheel. but its still a good game. fans of the arcade stage will surely enjoy the new additions like the 5 new tracks and new bgms. for me the time attack more than pay for the price of the game. my two cents ramble...

1 thing about this game that i don't like is the lag in braking and accelerating. When you press on either of these buttons, it will only take effect after less than 1 sec. It's kind of irritating when that happens.. but usually i down shift to take a turn, so no worries.

the magazine GamePro recommends this new one by JoyTech made with the William F1 license...
it has reprogrammable buttons, stick and butterfly shift, hinged pedals (which do not creep away), ball-bearing precision, adjustable sensitivity (you can do that even in the middle of the game)

it's not complete yet but was shown at E3...
instead of the European models, this time, it's all about Japanese real-world cars... all brands will be represented...
you can mod your cars too with stuff like decals and other body modifications...

anyway, there isn't any lag in the braking or accelerating when using the Gt force wheel. feels exactly like the arcade.
my only complaint is that the wheel doesn't turn to 180 degrees... haha. -

why do you guys have so much negative comments about it?
it's becos u guys expected too much before the game is out..
it's confirmed that gamepad game will not replace arcade version.
as for me .. personally i've played it myself .. i find that there's no difficulty in doing things that i did for arcade version as i still clock the timing and drifting the same as i did in arcade. i muz say that the game replace some things that the arcade version dun have .. like extra maps and stages. the real map that's in the manga or anime. i got the same feeling that takumi had when i played the stage against levin86. the road is damn hard to drive on. I wish that version 3 will have that stage.. cos i bet even bug cars can't complete that stage in peace...
and also the rainy stage with the EK9... it's nice also.. withe sileighty also.. the maps are so real....
i agree the skidding sounds fake and disturbing as it's not the same as arcade.... pls give a chance for the game.. i find that it's deserve it's praises.
I disagree that GT is better than ID cos it's two different game and the style of playing is different and it's two different racing game. ID is street racing and GT is track racing...
