There is a lot of governmental and societal pressure on Singaporean singles to get married (early) and have as many children as possible. What is seriously lacking in such initiatives is objective sharing of reality in our modern society, that results in many unhappy marriages and unhappy children born in such families.
There should be a objective survey to show clearly the happiness level of married couples based on the number of years married. The results will automatically put off many singles from tying the knot too early. :) Seriously, after the 'distractions' of career and bring up children are gone, many middle-age couples finally realise that they REALLY can't stand each other anymore.
The ideal situation is for singles to heal their personal emotional/life issues first, and learn to have self-love and feeling complete before making that long-term commitment with another person. Two people with their own share of unresolved issues coming together, and suppressing those combined issues for decades is a recipe for eruption of major conflicts in later years.
